For decades, Elks Lodge #1824 has been the welcoming hub of John Day, where neighbors become family over shared laughter and hearty meals. Located at 140 NE Dayton Street, our historic lodge opens its doors to RV travelers seeking a friendly overnight stop and locals craving the legendary Taco Tuesday gatherings. The air fills with the aroma of perfectly crafted rum and Cokes, strawberry lasagna, and Thanksgiving feasts prepared with care for our seniors living alone. Every plate served and every handshake extended carries the proud tradition of Elkdom, service, fellowship, and unwavering support for our Eastern Oregon community. Whether you're a longtime member or first-time visitor, you'll find genuine warmth, lively conversation, and that unmistakable feeling of coming home.

What We Offer

Step inside for Taco Tuesday feasts that draw visitors from California and beyond, featuring fresh, flavorful tacos and the famous strawberry lasagna. Our Thanksgiving dinner service delivers restaurant-quality meals to elderly residents who might otherwise dine alone, served by friendly volunteers who treat every guest like family. Members enjoy a full-service bar where expert bartenders craft the perfect rum and Coke with grenadine, plus year-round social events, charitable fundraisers, and RV parking for travelers needing a safe, welcoming place to rest. From holiday celebrations to weekly gatherings, every visit supports local causes while creating memories that keep guests returning.

A Proud Heritage

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
